Irene's Memory Quilt

Irene's Quilt

Irene's Memory Quilt
Mike Gifford 74 and Tim Gifford 76

Irene Gifford, mother of Mike and Tim, made this quilt from t-shirts donated from previous Ankara reunions. The quilt was raffled off to cover any expenses still owed to the hotel for the Friday Night Mix & Mingle. Her letter to the attendees:

"Working on the 'Memory Quilt' was very emotional. My mind raced recalling year after year the time spent with most of you, my George C Marshall 'kids'. I cried, smiled, laughed, and cried again as each stitch was sewn into the quilt representing those precious memories." She continued, "If, God willing, the raffle brings in more money than is needed to help offset reunion expenses, please donate any additional monies to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital."

Upon drawing the winning ticket, Ms E stated, "It was meant to be." Tim Gifford won the quilt. The good news continued when John Hainley was able to announce that 100% of the raffle money would be donated to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

The raffle turned out to be very successful. Tim had designed the check and had a friend in town print it for him. As you can see below, Irene was able to give St Jude's a large check.
