William Mark Burch II

Col. William Mark Burch II USAF (RET), born in Peabody, MA, 1917, passed away in Cocoa Beach, Fl May 24, 2007.

He served as an Army Air Corps navigator during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He attended Wayne University
in Detroit, MI, graduated from Detroit College of Law, Detroit, MI in 1949 with an LLB, and George Washington
University in 1968 with an LLM.

In 1950 he returned to active duty in the USAF Judge Advocate General's Corp. He served in the Azores, West Germany, Turkey and in the U.S. For his final assignment, he was the Director of the USAF Judiciary in Washington, DC. He served as a JAG until he retired as a Colonel in 1977. For his service, he was decorated with the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Legion of Merit.

His marriage to Norma E. McLean ended in divorce. His marriage to Irene E. Miller ended with her death in June 2006.

He is survived by his daughters Barbara Burch Franklin of Arlington, VA, Elizabeth Jane Weber of Bethesda, MD, his granddaughter Alexandra N. Michel also of Bethesda, MD and his brothers Donald Charles Burch of Mountain View, CA and Walter Thomas Burch of Melbourne, FL.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 31, 2007 at Patrick AFB South Chapel in Satellite Beach, FL at 11:00AM.
