Mary Ruth "Murphy" Twining

Miss Mary Ruth Twining, of Waldport, Oregon, passed away on June 28, 2008 after a long battle with cancer.
She was born March 19, 1942, in Tyler, Texas. She grew up in Maadi, Egypt, near Cairo, in Golden, Colorado, in Calgary, Canada, and in Ankara, Turkey. She graduated from the Department of Defense High School in Ankara, and then attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas where she was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Affairs. After graduation, Mary Ruth spent several years in the Houston, Texas area where she worked in the medical career field in a pharmacy, then as an assistant to an ear, nose and throat specialist. Later, she moved to San Francisco, where she lived for more than 30 years, and worked as a medical assistant to a dermatologist, at an advertising agency and at The French Hospital. In 1991, Mary Ruth moved to Florence, Oregon, before relocating to Waldport a few years later.

Known for her upbeat outlook and caring attitude, Murphy loved to travel and to read. During her life, she also traveled to England, Algeria, Australia, Germany and many other countries.

Murphy is survived by her elder brother, Lawrence Everett Twining, of Texas City, Texas and her younger sister, Susan Twining Pardo, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Murphy was beloved by all who knew her and her loss is deeply felt.

A Memorial Tribute will be held at the Bateman Funeral Home on Thursday, July 3, 2008.
