Although they no longer live in the fairy chimneys, the locals continue to maintain their fields in the volcanic ash.

Dondurma is the Turkish word for ice cream, and there is no ice cream in the world as smooth and delicious as that available on the street in Turkey! This vendor has just pulled the cone from Anita's hand. They play games with you when you really, really want that cone of dondurma!

When we were in the heart of the Kapadokya valley, I looked up and saw riders going single file along the distant ridge. The only way into the valley is on foot or horseback; there are no roads for cars.
