Tickfer Welcome

After visiting classes, Ron Tickfer welcomed us in the Library, where faculty received us with coffee, tea, fruit, sweets and conversation.

Mustafa and Erdal are proudly sporting their Connections badges. Erdal was surprised to find several old friends at the school. All down the hall, staff recognized and greeted him.

Music Room

Steve Suber 68 in the music room. My flash failed,
but this is an important photo. Steve spent most of his time in the music room and is now a musicologist, teaching at a university. He was very pleased to see Mr. Tickfer again. Mr Tickfer sent him assignments and books when he was very ill and kept him up to date with his classes. It was a warm reunion for them.

Souvenirs

Mustafa Bey looks on as Wendi chooses a t-shirt and ignores the pompoms.

In the foreground, you see Steve Suber 68 and V anessa Joseph (Gennens) 67 perusing an old yearbook.

Neslihan Girginkoc 75 is between them
in the background, looking at the t-shirts. To her right is Brian Heyboer 74, checking to see if the t-shirt is the right size.

Over Vanessa’s left shoulder, you will see Erdal Bargut and Hilary Van Buskirk (Straub) 65 talking about their memories of the school.

Brats DVD

I presented the school with a gift of Donna Musil’s
documentary, "Brats: Our Journey Home" with a portable DVD player. I added the DVD player after learning that DVDs come in different formats just like video tapes.

Although George C. Marshall remains a DOD school, the majority of student population is international. The few American dependents in Ankara attend at no charge. Those without an American parent pay tuition, although certain countries, such as Saudi Arabia, are exempt from paying tuition.
