History

Discover the story, milestones, and memories that shaped Ankara High School across generations.

2026 Update

Thanks to the generosity of GCM alumni, the site was upgraded and moved to a modern website hosting service.

A Look Back at 2013

The journey of connecting Ankara High School alumni began in 1999 with the launch of AnkaraReunion.com, at a time when internet access was limited and online communities were rare. Through dedication and word-of-mouth efforts, the platform helped reunite friends who had been out of touch for decades. As technology evolved, the site grew into a trusted space for preserving memories, sharing stories, and maintaining lifelong connections.

With a rebrand in 2005 and the introduction of modern features, AnkaraHighSchoolConnections.net expanded to include alumni from all graduating classes. The addition of online yearbooks, reunion information, and a growing global database strengthened the community worldwide. Even in the age of social media, the platform continues to offer a personal, alumni-focused experience that no commercial network can replace.

The 2009 Chapter

Connections officially went live in 2004 as an online community created to reconnect students and faculty of Ankara High School and George C. Marshall High School. Built with a strong focus on communication and searchability, the platform quickly grew into a comprehensive alumni database shaped by active member participation. Alumni registrations, shared memories, and life events transformed the site into a living archive that continues to bring former classmates together.

The success of Connections has been driven by dedicated alumni who contributed their time and expertise behind the scenes. From preserving yearbooks and hosting large-scale archives to organizing reunions and newsletters, these efforts strengthened the alumni network across generations. Together, their commitment ensured that Ankara’s legacy remained accessible, secure, and meaningful for alumni worldwide.

The 2005 Chapter

Connections was founded in 2005 by Jill Park (Doyle), Anita Donohoe, John Hainley, and Khan Klatt with a shared vision to strengthen ties among Ankara High School alumni. Combining decades of professional experience, they created a volunteer-driven platform dedicated to communication, reconnection, and community building. What began as an idea quickly evolved into a robust alumni network serving graduates and faculty worldwide.

Built entirely through collaboration and alumni support, Connections represents over 50 class years across all 50 U.S. states and multiple countries. Technical innovation, reliable email systems, and a growing database enabled meaningful reconnections across generations. The founders’ commitment, supported by fellow Trojans, laid a strong foundation for an enduring and inclusive alumni community.
