Ronald G. Carty

Retired Master Sgt. Ronald Gene Carty, age 59, beloved husband of Vicki L. Carty, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Carty was born in Vallejo, Calif., a son of the late Thomas B. and Shirley Teresa Carty. He was retired from the Air Force and was the state motorcycle safety director for the state of South Carolina Technical College System. He was a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church, the Roger Moore Bible Community Class and American Legion Post 15. He was an avid motorcycle rider and rode with the Glory Riders of Bethel Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and friend to all.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Ashley Wood of Sumter, Courtney Barnes (Bradley) of Denton, Texas, and Lindsay Carty of Sumter; three brothers, Wayne Carty (Marla) of Wedgefield, Dave Carty of Wedgefield, and Paul Carty of Washington, D.C.; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Marvin and Jan Loomis of Sumter.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Alice Drive Baptist Church with Dr. Clay Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Bullock Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Roger Moore Bible Community Class, Dr. Billy Clowney and Dr. Henry Moses.
