Kenith Wayne Smith
Kenith was born in Post on February 22, 1943 to Cecil Vester and Lela Mae Smith and was a 1961 graduate of Post High School and a 1966 graduate of Texas Tech. After receiving his commission into the U.S. Air Force, Kenith served at in George AFB, CA, Sheppard AFB, TX, Ankara, Turkey and Bergstrom AFB, TX. He later then left the Air Force and became a Civil Service employee which gave him the opportunity to travel and be stationed at Omaha, NE, San Antonio, TX, Austin, TX, Albuquerque, NM, Ankara, Turkey, Panama, Luke AFB, AZ, Rhein-Main AB, Germany, Incirlik, Turkey, Randolph AFB, TX. He finally retired in October 2007 and moved with his wife Emine to Kusadasi, Turkey. But, due to pain in his abdomen that led to the discovery of his cancer in April 2009 brought him back to San Antonio. Kenith met his wife Emine while station in Ankara, Turkey. Through mutual friends they attended a party and as they sat on opposite sides of the room he caught her attention. And it was then they had their first dance and their romance blossomed. After a short courtship they married in Post, TX at his parents home on May 1st, 1971. When he married Emine he didn't get just a wife, he got a whole family because he then became a Father to his new daughter Inci Marie and his son Inan William for which he later adopted and treated them as his own. He was the best husband and father a family could wish for and he will be truly missed. Kenith grew up the youngest of five siblings and absolutely adored his parents as they were a bit older than his friends' parents. His passion when he was young was the Boy Scouts and of course being a native of Texas he loved the Dallas Cowboys. Football became a joy and something he taught and shared with his daughter, with the exception that she is a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and totally made her an over the top crazy football fan for life. Fishing was something he and his son loved and could do for hours on end. He was also an avid collector of Flint Arrowheads, loved listening to the Beatles and Willie Nelson and enjoyed traveling with his wife to all the places where he had been stationed. Kenith was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Vester and Lela Mae Smith, his sister Ruth Little, and his brothers, Jimmy, Pete and Billy Ray. He is survived by his wife Emine, daughter Inci, son Inan, Grandson Anthony Poe, Granddaughter Kara Ceurvels and his Great-Grandson Jeremy Poe. Survivors residing in Post include, Edna, Wade and Bobby Smith and Janie Hair.
