Turkey Tour 2007

More Cappadocia - April 28

Bus drivers drinking tea and playing backgammon in Goreme.

Our van looks so tiny next to the tour buses!

This evil eye tree is on a summit overlooking a Cappadocian town.

The evil eye beads I remember from my time in Turkey had yellow in them, unlike most of the ones we saw during our journey. They became talismans to conquer what ancient civilizations feared, such as storms, earthquakes and eclipses.

The blue symbolizes the sky, the white is the aura of the moon, the yellow is the sun disc, and the black spot in the middle is the evil trying to eclipse the sun.

We visited an Onyx shop where we saw this turquoise, which translates into Turkish stone. These are samples of the different blues of Turkish turquoise.

This proud camel was curious about us.
