LIFE EVENTS
2nd Quarter 2010

This page was inspired by an electronic newsletter that Susan Curran 72 sends out every three months to her classmates in the seventies. It's a great way to find out what has been happening to your friends. With her permission, we have adapted her wonderful concept on this page.

Let us know what is happening in your life. Do you have an animal tale, a wedding, a new grandchild or something to brag about that you would like to share? That's part of the fun. Come on, be creative!! Share your life with us. Contact us today.

Healthy Choices

Congratulations to Anita Donohoe 66!

She quit smoking on December 1, 2009 after smoking for 45 years. At age of 16, while attending GCM, she had formal permission to smoke. This meant her father signed a permission slip that was kept in the school office. How times have changed.

When asked if we could place this story on the site, Anita responded, "It is definitely a Life Event."

Transitions

Our sincere condolences to John Henry 72 and Paul Henry 74 who lost their mother on February 19, 2010. She was laid to rest alongside her husband, Loy, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. In attendance were Hondo Avadikian, Deenise Bryant, Valorie Lyng and Mrs. Haynes (Eda Haynes Matthews' mother).

Mrs Henry had attended several of the 70s Texas mini reunions over the past several years and was a big hit. Many alumni remembered her from Turkey and thought of her as a second mother.

Multiple Sclerosis Walk Fundraiser

Tom Unrath 73 walked in the Multiple Sclerosis Walk fundraiser on 10 April at Riverfront Park in Cocoa, FL. His team name was TRU Movement.

They hoped to raise $1,500 and were pleased to reach 90% of their goal. Tom would like to extend his thanks to the alumni that supported this effort.
